Noorani needs roughly 400 MB of disk space after extraction, and works comfortably on machines with 4 GB of RAM. It's the same Chromium engine that runs Chrome and Edge, tuned for smaller memory overhead when not in use.

Checksums & signatures

SHA256 checksums for v1.0.0-alpha builds are published in the GitHub Releases page. Verify against: github.com/WaleedNaeem/noorani-browser/releases/tag/v1.0.0-alpha

The alpha build is unsigned — it does not carry Authenticode (Windows) or Apple notarisation (macOS). Signing arrives with the stable v1.0.0 release. Until then, verify the SHA256 checksum of your download against the values on GitHub before running the installer.

Installation notes

Windows: Run the installer and follow the prompts. Because the alpha build is unsigned, Windows SmartScreen will show a warning on first launch — click "More info", then "Run anyway". On first launch, Noorani will ask whether to import bookmarks and settings from Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Brave.

macOS: Open the .dmg and drag Noorani to Applications. Because the alpha build is unsigned, Gatekeeper will block it on first launch. Workaround: right-click the .dmg (or the app in Applications) and choose Open — that unlocks it for future launches.

Linux: The AppImage is self-contained; make it executable (chmod +x Noorani-Browser-1.0.0-alpha.AppImage) and run.

Browser import

On first run, Noorani can import from Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, Arc, and Opera: bookmarks, browsing history, saved passwords (encrypted pass-through, not exported to disk), and open tabs. Nothing is uploaded anywhere — the import is a local file read.

What you'll see first

A quick setup (30 seconds): your city for prayer times, your preferred calculation method, whether to enable the content filter, and which translation you'd like for the Ayah of the day. Every choice is changeable later.
